Sand stainless steel and nickel alloys foundry

This involves sand casting stainless steels and nickel-based alloys for applications connected with high corrosion or temperature resistance, in particularly for the manufacturing of valve bodies used in the oil & gas applications.

It starts with creating a wood or resin pattern in the shape of the intended piece. This model takes into account shrinking of the material due to cooling.

 

 

The resulting pattern is imprinted in a sand mould generally in two parts in which there can be one or more cores.

After merging the parts of the mould, the liquid metal is poured into it and the mould is destroyed after cooling.

The main advantage of stainless steel foundry versus forging is the ability to obtain complex shapes.

The solidified piece can then be successively subjected to other operations, on demand, such as machining, non-destructive testing, etc.
